In 1999, Jan Johnson and Pat Wright purchased the property
on Hay Street and saved it from demolition. In
2002, after a three-year restoration
process, the historic three-story building was reopened
as home to the Rainbow Room (1st floor), Moonlight Communications,
Inc. (2nd floor) and the Dream Loft apartment (3rd floor).
In 2003, Jan & Pat were honored with a coveted Carraway
Award, for outstanding achievement in the field of historic
preservation in North Carolina.
